A light-filled holiday apartment in Dubai, designed for a collector of contemporary art. The interior is defined by natural materials, soft tonal transitions, and a restrained architectural language that allows the artworks to set the rhythm of the space.

For this space, we were inspired by the meditative landscapes of the Dubai desert, in particular its subtle transitions of colors and textures. The entire palette is built on nuances and complex combinations of fabrics.

The custom made kitchen blends into the nuanced interior of the living space. The presence of fluted elements gives the space some rhythm and the rounded shapes make it soft and welcoming.

Working on interiors at this level of detail requires paying attention to minutae like the color of the skirting, molding and ceilings. For us, the color of the ceiling is as important as the color of the walls. In this case, we opted for the same shade of off-white to preserve the warmth of the space. This soft background is also perfect for the collection of artworks including this big scale painting by Sam Falls.

TIn an active city such as Dubai, we were keen to create a calm, meditative space where our clients could enjoy the sea views, time with their family and the company of beautiful art, such as this piece on display in the master bedroom by chinese artist Zhou Lee.

While our client was not sure about remodelling the bathrooms, they ultimately decided to extend the concept to that part of their home as well. This meant we had to conceive a new shower )which was originally attached to a bathtub). We opted for terrazzo tiles and Dornbracht gunmetal faucets and accessories.

The guest bedroom is all about natural materials and shapes. We chose Elitis textile for the curtains, which is known for creating perfect folds. The palette intends to balance cool and warmth shades of beige.

The kids’ bedroom is playful but remains in the same calm theme. We used natural wood, grasscloth, wool and cotton to preserve the serene ambience and the holiday mood.
